Editorial

I write this editorial whilst sitting in a rather cold room on a dull day with rain threatening. What happened to those glorious days of April? The weather certainly brought people out and Easter was a cracking start to the 2007 season. A big thank you to all of those members who made the Easter Egg Hunt so successful, certainly in terms of numbers, if not in terms of a big profit!

As you will see elesewhere in this edition, preparatory work for the Slaggyford Extension is getting under way. A headshunt beyond the gate at Kirkhaugh will be laid soon and the pile of rails will soon be larger. However, before serious construction gets under way, there is still preparatory paperwork to be done, and most importantly sources of money need to be located. It is anyones guess how long it will be, before we can enjoy the spectacle of one of our steam locomotives storming (or struggling!) up Lintley Bank with a fully loaded train.
