South Tynedale Railway Preservation Society internet site pages.
Introduction

Daniel has decided now that the site is becoming quite complex, currently with over 60 separate pages now available, and to list recent changes made to the site. This is so that readers are aware of the amendments that have been made and can easily access them.

Sunday 5th August 2007. Apologies to anyone during the day who was trying to access the pages and links to other transport pages at the Railway and Model Railway . info website at www.railwayandmodelrailway.info . There appeared to be some fault or maintenance work to the internet access computers at the premises of the internet service provider, where the pages are stored on their computer systems, which prevented access to the website and pages during the day. It seems to have been resolved by the evening, as access was regained to the website and pages by 8.30 pm that evening.
On 2nd August 2007, a link to an external website showing the Wagonway Maps of Northumberland, County Durham and Cleveland has been added on the history section home page of the South Tynedale railway website. The maps of the counties are very detailed showing the old wagonways and mines in the counties and they stretch westwards to fit in Alston and the surrounding area. It is well worth a look.

On 25th June 2007 there are the following changes being made to the South Tynedale Railway internet site pages these are as follows:-
- All pages on the internet site are being redesigned slightly, to use cascading style sheets in their layout. This should not affect the appearence of the pages, but readers are advised to have up-to-date versions of internet browser programs, e.g. Internet Explorer 7, Netscape 8, Opera 9, or equivalent, installed on their computers. This is to make sure that the internet pages are displayed on their computers properly. Free upgrades are normally available from any of the internet browser program company websites.

This has been published on the visiting locomotives between 1996 and 1998 page. Apologies for the over ten year delay in doing so.
Unfortunately, any photographs of this locomotive at Alston back in September 1996 appear to be missing from the S.T.R. archive photo collection, there is no record of any that were taken back then. Therefore an appeal - if anyone reading this page, did visit Alston back in September 1996 and has a photograph of ‘Isabel’ on the South Tynedale Railway, then do please get in touch. If so, could the railway please have a copy of the photograph to publish on this internet site and for the S.T.R. archive photograph collection. Thank you.

The page has been compiled from an article published in the Hexham Courant newspaper on 15th December 2006 and with reference to the Northumberland National Park website at www.northumberlandnationalpark.org.uk
On 18th May 2007, a quick way of accessing the timetable page from the home page on this internet site was introduced. By clicking on the photograph of the timetable leaflet on the home page, this was take you straight to the timetable page. Similarly by clicking on the photograph of the timetable leaflet on the timetable page, this will take you back to the home page of this internet site.
Also, by clicking on the South Tynedale Railway logo at the top of any page, will refresh and reload the home page again, this is useful if you have accessed a certain page of this internet site via a search engine program such as Yahoo, Google, etc., and if the contents or navigation window does not appear to the left hand side of the home page. The other omission is another Bagnall 0-4-0 ‘Isabel’ that also visited Alston during another year and information will be added about ‘Isabel’ shortly. Although the webmaster has a copy of the book entitled Cliffe Hill Mineral Railway, Leicestershire by M.H. Billington, published in 1974, where ‘Isabel’ was working prior to her preservation, which will help with some historical notes.
On 1st May 2007, all of the pages relating to links to other railways, magazines, societies, etc., have been transferred to new railway website pages under the name www.railwayandmodelrailway.info. Access and links to that site for the above information, that was previously on the South Tynedale Railway website (www.strps.org.uk) will continue as normal. The railway and model railway info website is being developed by Daniel McIntyre to hold railway and model railway information, which is not relevant to the South Tynedale Railway and it will be his own website, and separate from the South Tynedale Railway website. The move will free up space to develop more pages on the South Tynedale Railway website of relevance to the railway, its history and to the Alston and surrounding area.
